Access Programs
Project Joy and Hope was created to promote physical and psychological care for children with life-limiting illness. We exist to help families of these children through a variety of different services and projects. Read our newsletter. View agency brochure.
Our programs include:
- HOPE Housing – a "home away from home" for children who have undergone a transplant or who need hospice care. PJ&H operates several HOPE HOUSES in the Houston area and is presently building a six-apartment community our Tulip Project near Beltway 8.
- Family Assistance Grant Fund – helping families throughout Texas whose children require ongoing treatment for serious illnesses or hospice care. The fund covers “real life needs” such as out-of-pocket costs for medication, hospital parking and meals, rental needs and utilities.
- Lend Me Your Lap – provides loaned laptops for seriously ill children in pediatric hospital or hospice settings.
- Hope Scholarship Fund – provides scholarships for bereaved children. This program has grown from three $500 awards per year to 32 awards totaling $45,000 each year. A total of $350,000 has been awarded to very grateful children since the program’s inception.
- H.O.P.E. (Helping Our Pain Ease) – is parental bereavement support classes in a seven-week series.
- Holiday Gift Program – is a way to provide holiday gifts and financial assistance for families in pediatric hospice programs.
- Tapestry Retreats – are weekend grief workshops for bereaved mothers. At least 25 mothers are supported in a group setting during each retreat.
- Classroom Bereavement Management – is a training program for teachers to help grieving students.
- 1-866-JOYHOPE – is a toll-free parent-to-parent support line.
- Texas Pediatric Palliative Care Consortium – an alliance of palliative care professionals from pediatric hospitals and hospices throughout Texas.
